HAULOVER BEACH

Skinny-Dipping is a Draw for South Florida Homebuyers

Hollywood, FL (May 10, 2005) – The South Florida real estate market is
currently enjoying a boom. The most commonly attributed factors are
fairly ascertainable - a strong job market, the ever-present migration
of northerners to Florida, and the aspiration among wealthy Latin
Americans and Europeans to own property in Miami-Dade County. Great
news
for realtors; however the flip side is the ever-intense competition for
clients/buyers. In a tight market, the creative-thinking realtors will
uncover every angle to attract buyers for their listings.

One enterprising Hollywood real estate agent has capitalized on what
can
only be termed as a unique niche market within South Florida real
estate
– the growing number of nude recreation aficionados who seek to live
where they can sunbathe, swim and play volleyball all year ‘round at
Miami-Dade County’s famous Haulover Beach. Located near the epicenter
of
one of the hottest oceanfront real estate markets in the country,
Haulover is the only officially sanctioned public nude beach in the
country which is so easily accessible to a major metropolitan area.
Thanks to the efforts of the South Florida Free Beaches Association, a
local nudist organization which works hard to keep Haulover Beach safe,
clean and legal, Haulover has evolved from a little-known beach where a
few local sun-lovers went au naturel in the early 90’s to it’s current
status as a world-famous destination for nudists around the world,
receiving in excess of one million visitors annually.

According to Jennifer Roberts of Classic Realty Group, Inc.,
Haulover Beach is a major draw for an ever expanding segment of South
Florida home-seekers. According to Roberts, who goes by “Jen,” there
are
“literally thousands of nude beach lovers around the world who are
looking to buy South Florida property, specifically based on proximity
to Haulover Beach.” Laura Douthat, a graphic designer from Northern
Virginia, moved to South Florida around three years
ago, citing “Haulover Beach’s family friendly environment” as a strong
factor in her family’s decision to relocate.

“The profile buyer looking for a home near Haulover Beach will most
likely be a married baby-boomer couple, retired or semi-retired, looking
to enjoy the nudist lifestyle all year round, commented Jen. “They
tend
to be urban, affluent, professional people who enjoy going to nude
beaches like Sandy Hook (NJ) Fire Island, and Martha’s Vineyard during
the summer and traveling to nudist destinations around the world,
including Haulover”

Edward Nass, 58 years old, from Sayreville, NJ had
been going to the nude beach at Sandy Hook in NJ for at least 20 years
before deciding he wanted to spend more time at the beach and bought a
house close to Haulover.

"As it turns out, since I've moved to Florida, I've been joined by six
other couples", says Nass. "Now we all live in Florida, within 10 miles of each
other and can go to Haulover anytime of the year and we couldn't be
happier."

A transplanted Northerner herself, Jen Roberts looks at the situation
in Pasco County, Florida (about 4 hours to the north) for inspiration.
There are half-dozen clothing-optional condo developments that are
doing
a booming business.

It is estimated that 100,000* people visit Pasco county each year,
specifically for the nude recreation options, with more and more each
year are coming to stay, and property in the nudist developments
consistently sells at higher prices than comparable properties in
“clothing-mandatory” developments.

According to Roberts, Southeast Florida has much more to offer the
birthday-suited homebuyer than Pasco County. “We have a beach, for one
thing. A pool or a lake is nice, but a poor substitute for the Atlantic
Ocean.” (besides Haulover, there is no legal nude beach anywhere else
in
Florida) "Add to that the better weather, and South Florida’s liberal
attitude towards different lifestyles... it's no wonder the clothing-optional community has their sites set on South Florida!”

According the American Association for Nude Recreation, nudism-related
businesses in the U.S. account for $400 million in annual revenues - up
from $120 million a decade ago.
